The RailLight is an innovative lighting solution designed specifically for railyards, mounting directly onto the rail itself. Built from the ground up with railway environments in mind, RailLight was engineered for both the space and the people who work there. It improves railyard safety by casting light directly on the ground, helping personnel navigate safely between rail tracks.

Safety professionals, unions, and others concerned with rail safety often ask: How is RailLight typically installed?

One common layout for illuminating the space between two tracks involves using a 2-meter RailLight connected to the next fixture with a 2-meter cable. Configuration 1 (shown below) illustrates a standard setup, with RailLight fixtures mounted on each track flanking the walkway.

Configuration 2 shows another frequent setup, where the fixtures are staggered along the path, creating overlapping light coverage. Which layout is best? That depends on various factors like the spacing between tracks, other light sources in the area, available power, and more.

These two layouts are widely used, but site-specific conditions—such as the total length needing illumination, the power infrastructure, and track spacing—should all be considered when planning your RailLight installation.
